St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk

Be a part of one of the largest races in the North Hills of Pittsburgh - the 19th annual St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk. The race attracts nearly 1,000 participants each year and is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010.

A 3.1-mile, rolling, out and back, USA Track & Field certified course along Meridian Road in Gibsonia. The entry fee is $16 if received by July 30, and $20 thereafter. Registrants who submit their applications by July 30 are guaranteed a race T-shirt and goody bag.

Join celebrity emcees on the course or off - hundreds of spectators surround the finish line to cheer on runners, walkers and wheelchair racers.

A day of fun for the whole family, the St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K boasts one of the greatest post-race parties around. Musical entertainment will be provided and more than $2,000 in prizes will be awarded to race finishers, and local businesses will provide a scrumptious feast of coffee, doughnuts, soft drinks, beer, ice cream, pizza, wings and more. TRACO is the Event Sponsor of the 19th annual St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K.

Corporate teams may have up to five members, at least one of whom must be a female. The top three times for the team will be scored. There is no additional fee for corporate teams; however, entry forms for all members of a corporate team must be mailed in together and must be received by July 30. Online registration for corporate teams will not be accepted.

Proceeds from the St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. The fund supports the poor and low-income patients of St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas. Since its founding in 1900, it has been St. Barnabas' mission to never turn a patient away because of their inability to pay. In 2009 alone, St. Barnabas provided more than $4.2 million in free care.
