St. Barnabas Charities Re-Elects Board of Trustees
Gibsonia, Pa. - Jan. 18, 2007 - The board of trustees was recently re-elected for St. Barnabas Charities Inc., which is the fund-raising arm of St. Barnabas Health System. Through fund-raising events and donations from individuals and corporations, St. Barnabas Charities ensures that St. Barnabas Health System meets its 106-year-old mission of never turning away a patient because of inability to pay. In 2005 alone, St. Barnabas Charities' Free Care Fund provided more than $6.29 million worth of care to patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas. Since 1989, St. Barnabas Charities has provided more than $75 million worth of free care.
Serving on the St. Barnabas Charities Inc. board are:
- Ellen Bramson of Olivenhain (San Diego County), Calif., chairwoman. Bramson is retired from Cox Broadcasting, a division of Cox Enterprises. For nine years until her retirement in April 2005, she served as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Cox Television Cluster of stations including WPXI (NBC/Pittsburgh), WJAC (NBC/Johnstown-Altoona-State College), WTOV (Steubenville-Wheeling) and the Pittsburgh Cable News Channel. During her time with Cox, she became involved with the PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® campaign, recruiting WJAC and WTOV to serve as anchor stations in their communities. She continues to serve on the St. Barnabas Charities Community Advisory Committee and support the fund-raising efforts of St. Barnabas Charities. Bramson graduated from Westbrook College in Portland, Maine, with an associate's degree. She completed a special broadcast management program at Harvard Business School and an Executive Leadership Program at Cox Enterprises.
- Nanci L. Case of Wexford, president. In addition to overseeing St. Barnabas Charities and the Kean Theatre, Case is Vice President with St. Barnabas Health System, overseeing the sales, marketing and public relations functions of the health system. A six-year veteran of St. Barnabas, she holds a bachelor of science degree in business and marketing, a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish, and a master's degree in business and strategic planning, all from Colorado State University.
- Augusta Kairys of Pittsburgh, treasurer. Kairys is Vice President of Provider Relations and Provider Information at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and French from Grove City College and a master's in business administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Kairys is president of the Board of Directors of Allegheny County Court Appointed Special
Advocates, a volunteer organization that works toward assuring that abused and neglected children have safe, permanent and loving homes. She is also a past president of the Junior League of Pittsburgh. Kairys is a long-time member of the St. Barnabas Charities Community Advisory Committee and serves on the St. Barnabas Founder's Day committee and the St. Barnabas Charitable Golf Open committee.
- Rich Andrus of Bradford Woods. Andrus is President of the Willard M. Lewis Company, an insurance brokerage firm in Ambridge he purchased in 1978. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business from Point Park College. He has been involved with St. Barnabas Charities' Community Advisory Committee for several years and serves as chairman of the annual St. Barnabas Charitable Golf Open. Andrus is president of the Sewickley Heights Golf Club and serves on the board of directors of the First Tee of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the local chapter of an international charitable youth initiative supported by Tiger Woods that is aimed at promoting character development and life-enhancing values through golf.
- Marion Piotrowski of Ingomar is owner and publisher of Northern Connection, a monthly community magazine distributed in the North Hills. The last several years, Marion has been actively involved with St. Barnabas, serving on the committees for Founder's Day and Fashion Show and sponsoring the Kean Theatre and Kean Idol.
- Patrick Regnery of Burr Ridge, Ill. RRegnery divides his professional time between overseeing a charitable trust and working as an investment counselor at Mongerson Securities Corporation in Chicago. Regnery attended Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa., and Boston University. He has supported St. Barnabas Charities' annual Founder's Day Celebration for many years.
