St. Barnabas Resident to be Recognized on 50th Birthday

Gibsonia, Pa. - Dec. 15, 2005 - Greg Shire, a resident of St. Barnabas Nursing Home since 1977, will be honored with day-long festivities Tuesday, Dec. 20 as he celebrates his 50th birthday.

At 11 a.m., residents and staff will be treated to a catered luncheon. At 2 p.m., The Merrymakers, a local band, will perform. Greg will also be given gifts by several residents and staff members. The party will be held in the chapel of the nursing home, 5827 Meridian Road. Balloons in Greg's favorite colors, blue and silver, will decorate the chapel. The party is made possible through the generosity of Greg's brother, Andrew Shire. Greg has cerebral palsy, which has left him immobilized.

"St. Barnabas has been Greg's home for more than half of his life," noted Pamela Dixon, Director of Recreation for St. Barnabas Nursing Home. "He's a key figure here and it will be wonderful to make him feel special for the day."
